andrew pugh Posted 3 August , 2020 Share Posted 3 August , 2020 Good Morning I have just been checking out casualties belonging to the 12 Bn H L I who were all killed on the 25/03/1918. Most of them are commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial with a few in Peronne Road Cemetery, Beacon Cemetery Sailly-Laurette and St Pierre Cemetery Amiens. But there is one casualty Pte Bramer who is in Tyne Cot,That's some distance from where they were on the 25/03/1918,how can this be? GraemeClarke Posted 4 August , 2020 Share Posted 4 August , 2020 (edited) Hi SDGW has him in the 9th Battalion, not 12 as per CWGC. The WD of the 9th states they were quartered in the cellars at Ypres at this time. Regards, Graeme Edited 4 August , 2020 by GraemeClarke
andrew pugh Posted 4 August , 2020 Author Share Posted 4 August , 2020 Good Morning Graeme Thanks for replying. Then clearly that is an error on behalf of the C W G C. Should I contact the C W G C and make them aware? Regards Andy
GraemeClarke Posted 4 August , 2020 Share Posted 4 August , 2020 Hi Andy, You will need more documents, probably from Ancestry (of which I am not a member) such as his medal roll etc. If you can obtain them, your local library should give you access, and send them I am sure they will correct the error. Do you need the War Diary entry for this period ? Regards, Graeme
