He mentions the Crucifix of the Trenches at Neuve Chapelle. In "I Was There" I have found a picture of the damaged figure of Christ at the base of the replacement village Crucifix. Does anyone know if the damaged figure is still there, or has it been moved somewhere for safe keeping? Paul Reed Posted 21 February , 2005 Share Posted 21 February , 2005 I believe one of the figures of Christ went to Portugal in the ?50s or 60s to form a memorial to the Portguese Expeditionary Force who fell in the area in 1918.
