Ww1 soldier?

Once again walking through a local cemetery  when I came across this chap.

Did he  serve during the war.

Can't read German so unable to ascertain.

It's not German, it's Danish.

 

Niels Peter Fischer, born ?.2/1897 at Aasum (Åsum), Odense, died ?.5.1918 at Erith.

I can't find a medal index card for him. His death was registered in Dartford district in the June quarter of 1918 (2a 735).

According to this entry, he died at 91 Lower Road, Erith, so not likely to have served?
