Alan24 Posted 5 July , 2020 Share Posted 5 July , 2020 I wonder if those more skilled than me at searching The National Archives can tell me if a war diary for this unit exists. The 32nd Division war diary has on its distribution list; Col. ILES, Officer Commanding, Southern Group IV Corp Heavy Artillery. I would be very interested to see a diary of this unit covering March & April 1917 if it exists. I've used all the key words in the TNA search box but nothing comes back. I suspect that no diary exists but would love to be proved wrong. Regards Alan.

Alan24 Posted 6 July , 2020 Author Share Posted 6 July , 2020 Thanks very much Ron. That looks promising, I'll give it a go. Having thought that I'd exhausted the search for info on my GGF, I found at the weekend a map reference for the location of his battery on the day of his death in the 32nd Div. WD of all places - a sort of eureka moment! This has spured me on to look at the higher level diaries. Thanks again Ron. Alan.
