Agreed. It looks like a Spigot mortar.

Arantxa,

Yes, a French 80mm mortar.  Attached is a photo taken from "Weapons of the Trench War" 1914-1918 by Anthony Saunders.  Incidentally, that book and "Dominating the Enemy" by the same author are well worth having a look at.
