Dollar 10 a Day Posted 23 June , 2020 Share Posted 23 June , 2020 While reading the War Diaries of the 10th Bn, Canadian Railway Troops, the battalion that my Grandfather served with, the 18-06-18 entry in the June 1918 Diary caught my attention. The word influenza is mentioned in part of that day's entry. It was the only time that I noticed it in the diaries. Just wanted to share that with members as something they may want to look for when reviewing War Diaries. I've read that in France the disease spread in three waves from April 1918 to February 1919. The second wave was the most severe in September, October and November. 18-06-18 - Bambecque (France) C Co. started construction on extension La Folie line - had 8 OR (Other Rank) admitted hospital & 18 OR sick in lines with prevailing form of influenza.
