Remembered Today:

Robert MULLIN or MULLEN J39906 Royal Navy

Bit of a puzzle in the pension records... Robert Mullin (or Mullen) J39906 Royal Navy, born at Old Kirkpatrick in Scotland on 13 July 1898, lived in Glasgow, invalided with otitis media on 23 May 1917. Attached pension ledger gives his date of death as 6 May 1920, though other records say 1921.

CWGC have Robert Mullin 271222 who died on 6 May 1920: https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/346945/mullin,-/

But it's clear from the service records that this is a completely different man: this Robert Mullin was born at Belfast on 19 August 1882 and was invalided with tuberculosis on 27 March 1918.

I can't find a death record for the younger Robert Mullin in either 1920 or 1921. The GRO have a man with this name who died at Liverpool Jan-Mar 1921 age 23, so he was the right age, but it also appears that he was baptised at Liverpool on 20 February 1898 so this is probably a red herring.

Could just be a case of mistaken identity in the pension records, but posting here in case anyone has any other ideas.

He served as Mullin,. Born 13 July 1898 in Dumfries according to his RN records (no death noted on the record).

To throw something else in to the mix, see the date of death for the address (unless it was a relative at the same address).

I suspect this man above is

Probably the father of #J33906 Mullin but I can't yet see anything for the man himself.

The above Robert Mullin died in the Falmouth reg Dist aged 37

would be a bit of a coincidence if two Robert Mullins died on the same date

Sounds reasonable. I assume this is father and son on the 1911 census since the ages for both seem to fit:
