Fattyowls Posted 9 June , 2020 Share Posted 9 June , 2020 I've got a couple in Faubourg d'Amiens; Donald Sloan in the cemetery at III A 32 (near the Memorial at the far end) and James Roy among the Cameronian names in Bay 6. If you've got time and the rocket launcher in tow I'd be interested if you can make something artistic out of James' name; this being the most difficult to photograph memorial to the Missing that I know. But don't worry; I already have something adequate. James Roy's brother Robert is among the Cameron Highlanders on the same memorial, and their sister would marry a man whose brother in remembered there too. I'm in contact with the families of all the men and they will be very happy that you just say hello; it might be a while since I can do it in person. Pete. P.S. Very specific request - I have been looking for years for a frontal view of the South-Eastern entrance to Gordon Dump Cemetery at Ovillers-la-Boisselle BEFORE about 1951 'ish when it was dismantled and a new entrance made at the north eastern side on the cemetery. As the name is on eye level when one is standing on the Bench, I dug out the macro filter on the 24-105mm lens and played a bit with that. then played a bit with various angles and lenses on the cemetery itself and walked to the Mur des Fusiliers. The whole domein on and around the citadel is quite nice, with paths for joggers and bikes, lot of woods. I need to reserach than one Belgian there on the wall. M. Fattyowls Posted 30 June , 2020 Share Posted 30 June , 2020 One thing I will have to do the next time I am anywhere near Monchy-le-Preux is to take some photos looking back towards the Vimy Ridge. I was stitching together a panorama from photos taken at Notre Dame de Lorette for the photos thread and noticed a church spire just beyond the end of the Vimy ridge which I think may be Monchy.
