Good Morning All
I am currently researching some of the names on our memorials , that unfortunately we have no information about , time as you know fades the reasons and whys these lads ( I presume) are  on a particular memorial, all though obviously deserving.
I have searched for this family name and found nothing , CWGC has no listing etc , can you help ?

W R HOLTBURN  -  the name is carved on a wooden tablet ,Davington , kent  .
He is listed under 1914-1918 ,

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Dean

There's a  William Holburn on CWGC. Misspellings aren't uncommon. No family details.

As the CWGC man is an Argyll  (sic) & Sutherland Highlander and listed as son of late Robert and Janet Scott Holburn a census check suggests that in 1901 he was living with his widowed father in Greenock, Renfrewshire. Age is correct as born in 1891. I cannot find him in the 1911 census though.
