Can anyone certify where this was taken from and what wood is in the distance. Paul Reed Posted 17 February , 2005 Share Posted 17 February , 2005 It's taken from the edge of the Lochnagar Crater looking towards Fricourt Wood, the trees of which you can see in the distance. You are overlooking the ground where 21st Divion went over on 1st July. The track in the photo runs from the crater into Fricourt itself. The mine crater is at your back in this photo.
