R.F.C. Trade classification question

Could anyone please tell me what the attached trade on an R.F.C. service card is?

I originally thought it was "Fitter (R.E.)" (as in Royal Engineers) but this man was never in the R.E.

Could it be A.E.? and if so what does that stand for?
