Hi all

A recent topic on trawlers prompted me to try and find out about the above named vessel, but i have drawn a blank. Can anyone tell me any information at all on the above vessel, such as service, names of crew, where based etc. Any info gratefully appreciated

Hello

ANDREW KING was a MERSEY class Admiralty trawler. Launched on 19 April 1917 and built at Cochrane. Post war, she was renamed OUSE and was lost in the Med in 1941 off Tobruk.

No deaths are shown in ANDREW KING, combat related or natural.

Hi kin

Many thanks for that info greatly appreciated. Do you know of any good sources for reading background info on the role of Trawlers such as Andrew King in WW1

Cheers

Hello

The official history of the war: THE MERCHANT NAVY in three volumes by Archibald Hurt gives some good information on the trawler/drifter participation. The books were published in the early 20s, but seem plentiful as they appear often in book lists.
