michaeldr Posted 28 April , 2020 Share Posted 28 April , 2020 "Unusual Gallipoli double Map any info would be great" A great find. It looks like a (double) map which was marked up by someone who knew the Anzac front from direct, first hand experience; he knew all the names of the physical features, but did not agree with the official trans-literation from the Turkish. Exactly how much more do you need to know?
arantxa Posted 28 April , 2020 Author Share Posted 28 April , 2020 Hi I’m just tidying up and it was one of those things that had been sitting around would it have been marked up after the war do you think or during ?
alantwo Posted 29 April , 2020 Share Posted 29 April , 2020 (edited) It would be interesting to know how the two maps are held together. Glue, or if perhaps something like sellotape, the latter it wasn’t invented until 1937, it might be a clue to when the map was in use. The sense I get is that it’s the kind of map someone visiting the area might put together before a trip, general features, places of interest etc. Alan Edited 29 April , 2020 by alantwo
