I am not sure how widely these are faked they are not rare. Both of yours look ok to me I have had a few with differing pin and hook fittings.

Out of curiosity I just googled German wound badge and was quite surprised to see the number of variations as opposed to the single design in Britain. Would the German system have been a case of each (e.g. Prussia, Saxony etc) opting for their own design?

Simon, more the case of a variety of firms making the badges. This trend continued into the 3rd Reich period with variations on the plethora of badges that adorned the uniforms of said dictatorship.

Thanks, somehow thought the Germans may have had an efficient system in place, they usually do.
