I'm spending the afternoon checking out "Salisbury Plain 1897-1920" and have saved about 30 articles, mainly from the British Medical Journal, for examination at leisure. One learned article noted symptoms akin to those of shell-shock among soldiers on Salisbury Plain who had hardly, if ever, heard a shell burst. This was especially true after conscription, when attempts were made to turn into soldiers men totally unfit for military service. There's also a report of discrimination by Australia soldiers against aborigines seeking to drink at a Bulford pub. Registration is instantaneous and I'm finding the website easy enough to navigate. And, of course, you can check out other non-WWI topics. Thanks again, Jane!
