Remembered Today:

2nd Lt A H W TOLLEMACHE 27 Sq RFC

Perth Digger

2nd Lt Arthur Henry William Tollemache, 27 Squadron, was reported missing in his Martynside Scout of 19 July 1916. No further news was received (the International Red Cross sent the family a negative reply) and he was officially presumed to be dead in 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial. From the Petersham War Memorial website I have read that his father refused to accept his son's death until after the Armistice. I was wondering if anyone has access to his service record (TNA PRO WO 339/647), as I would be interested in seeing the correspondence between the family and the WO.

Thanks

Mike
