redhighbury Posted 21 April , 2020 Share Posted 21 April , 2020 (edited) Does anyone know whether the date that is recorded on a casualty list issued by the War Office is the actual date of injury or is it for example the date the report was received back in London? brianmorris547 Posted 21 April , 2020 Share Posted 21 April , 2020 It normally took four to six weeks from the event to the list. Each Unit had to submit Field Returns every Sunday to it's Base. These returns contained the names of all men killed, wounded, missing or admitted to hospital for other reasons. My gf was wounded on or before 05/09/1916 and he is named in the Times OCL 11/10/1916. Men from the same Unit wounded in the same action are generally named in the same OCL. Brian
