pete-c Posted 13 April , 2020 Share Posted 13 April , 2020 (edited) Would anyone know of the exact date on which the decision was reached that this submarine should be given the task of sinking the Goeben by torpedo? The actual sortie began on 27 January 1918 but, according to at least two sources, the decision was taken - by Admiral Gough-Calthorpe - on the 25th or 26th. The decision to employ a submarine, rather than continue to use aircraft, may well have been reached even earlier - possibly even by 21 January. EDIT: I forgot to mention that these details might possibly be located in ADM 137/630 - which, of course, I cannot get access to at the moment. If anyone has copied these details in the past I would be most grateful. Edited 14 April , 2020 by pete-c
