Piscator Posted 16 February , 2005 Share Posted 16 February , 2005 Been viewing this post with some interest, some of these latrines were vaguely reminicent of my boy scout camping days, it seems that modernization took a long time to catch up. The other point is, the latrines we had in Plymouth Dockyard in the 50's werent much better, there ,there was a continuous stream of water passing under all the seats of ease. Nothing to do with the current post but amusing non the less, lighted newspaper was floated down from the end seat, I'll leave your imagination to envisage the rest. Landsturm Posted 18 February , 2005 Share Posted 18 February , 2005 I have read several reports of trenches previously occupied by the French to be found in a disgusting condition when taken over by the British, including having to squelch through human excrement in the bottom of the trench. Good example here; http://www.greatwar.co.uk/westfront/ypsali...de/defences.htm
