Douglas29 Posted 21 March , 2020 Share Posted 21 March , 2020 I am endeavouring to write a profile of Lt Colonel G C Stawell, c/o Upper Burma Volunteer Rifles, and father of Major General W A M Stawell. So far limited information found apart from the Spinks auction of his IVD & Delhi Durbar 1911 medal and family details on family history web site. Actually not sure DD 1911 was awarded. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as to route fo further investigation.

Ancestry has a reference to this Name: George Coope Stawell Notes: Lv., 12 mos., 19 Feb 11 Page Number: 574 Rank: Lieutenant Unit: Upper Burma Volunteer Rifles Indian Army Quarterly List for 1 January 1912 presuming an 'r' is missing! Is George Dodsworth Stawell a relative of his? George

Douglas29 Posted 22 March , 2020 Author Share Posted 22 March , 2020 Dear George, I greatly appreciate your assistance and thank you. re George Dodsworth Stawell so far I haven't found a Family Connection. As to his DD medal 11, I couldn't find him listed in the volunteer roll, so assume might have received it due to his role as Chief Engineer &Sec Govt Public Works Dept Burma. His IVD is shown attached. Regards Douglas
