Blue Dragoon Posted 16 March , 2020 Share Posted 16 March , 2020 Hello can anyone help interpret a medical record. What does the designation E2 refer to and what med organisation is 9CD? Many thanks for your help George
Bardess Posted 16 March , 2020 Share Posted 16 March , 2020 9CD would, I think, be 9th Convalescent Depot? Can't see where E2 is on the above
Bardess Posted 16 March , 2020 Share Posted 16 March , 2020 EDIT: Ah, found it. I wonder if it is the Ward No on the Ambulance Train?
Blue Dragoon Posted 16 March , 2020 Author Share Posted 16 March , 2020 Many thanks. Any idea where I can get info on 9th Convalescence or Command Depot?
Polar Bear Posted 16 March , 2020 Share Posted 16 March , 2020 The Long Long Trail has an excellent page on Command Depots for convalescant patients. https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldiers/a-soldiers-life-1914-1918/the-evacuation-chain-for-wounded-and-sick-soldiers/command-depots/ Unfortunately while it gives a long, long list of locations (and shows the massive scope of the operation) it doesn't list them by number. Personally I found the page eye opening, especially the information on what went on in - and not just because a relative died in one.
