kin47 Posted 11 February , 2005 Share Posted 11 February , 2005 Hello In the RNR, service numbers with no suffix, A, B, C, D, E, SA, or SC or deck ratings. EA, EB, EC, ED are engine room artificers ES, ET, EU, EV , T, U, V, W are enginemen R, W are stokers. A 2nd Hand can command a small ship (i.e. trawler or drifter), although he is not a commissioned officer. If a commissioned officer is in the ship, the 2nd Hand is in responsible for the ship's operation. don Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
