Remembered Today:

Russian Shell Case Made in Britain?

Hi all. I picked this up today and while as a piece of trench art it is pretty basic, I was intrigued by the markings on the base. While it appears to have been made in 1916 by Vickers, Sons & Maxim (VSM - the M is partially rubbed out) there are what I believe are Russian Cyrillic markings at 6 o'clock. Also it seems that the hole for the primer has been blanked off. Possibly it was never finished? Could anyone provide any more information on this case? Many thanks.

Perhaps that is a Greek letter 'G' - gamma? But the KM are not Greek.
