CampbellSJ Posted 3 February , 2020 Share Posted 3 February , 2020 Gunner 10118 J Clarke wounded 27/10/1917 near Ypres. Died of wounds 28/10/1917 and buried at Dozingham. I am trying to locate his famliy and age, thus hope to find his effects in a roll from the clearing station? The 4th, 47th and 61st Casualty Clearing Stations were posted at Dozinghem. Bombardier 22562 Sidney H Marshall, the man next to Gunner Clarke when he was wounded, was killed outright. Yet I did see his effects listed in a roll somewhere online, (which I can't find now). He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. Thank you.
ss002d6252 Posted 3 February , 2020 Share Posted 3 February , 2020 The only lists of actual effects that survive are the very odd ones in service records and with wills. The soldiers effects record set on ancestry is for monies rather than goods. Craig

CampbellSJ Posted 4 February , 2020 Author Share Posted 4 February , 2020 Many thanks to all of you!! I have Ancestry but was unable to locate him there... Partially because I knew not his age or anything else about him. Much appreciate your time and expertise! And Craig, I will check out your blog sometime as I am also interested in a young soldier who served with the 1/7th DLI. Again - thanks to all! Could that be same as 'Skerton'. ( I am not familiar with the area).
