horatio2 Posted 11 January , 2020 Share Posted 11 January , 2020 (edited) A BANBURY Class paddle minesweeper, she was brought into service by the Admiralty on 7 Jan 1918 and based on HMS NESMAR at the Oban Auxiliary Patrol base.. On 16 Jul 1918 she was transferred to the Granton base at HMS GUNNER on the Firth of Forth. RFA Racer salvaged Shirley after the mining incident and this work is included in the book I have written "U-Boat Enigmas : Royal Navy Salvage & Secrecy in WW1.
