Aurel Sercu Posted 7 January , 2020 Share Posted 7 January , 2020 A while ago I started this topic in a Forum section that apparently was not the right one. Someone advised me to post my question in "Equipment". And hopefully this is a better idea. This is a question on behalf of an acquaintance. I myself could not answer his question at all, but I told him there sure are experts on the GWF. This Topic will prove (again) that I am right. :-) For years he has been in the possession of a Royal Flying Corps holster. It came from a small museum that closed down. It was not until he removed the webbing belt to which it was attached that RFC 65 74 S became visible. 74 Squadron ... But what does 65 stand for? Does it refer to the owner? robins2 Posted 7 January , 2020 Share Posted 7 January , 2020 could possibly be stock number, used for inventory?? just a guess though regards Bob R.
Aurel Sercu Posted 8 January , 2020 Author Share Posted 8 January , 2020 Bob, I won't say that your guess is as good as mine. For it could even be better. :-) (I had not even thought of your guess ...) I am waiting for someone to post : I have such a holster too, and that number definitely refers to the owner ... But probably this will not happen ... :-) Aurel
