Hi, Can someone tell me what au1 or I means on this silver war badge roll to RW Lotrose? Plus why is his service no. not listed? I have it on his service paper. Also what information is held on a pension card. Basically is it worth paying for or not, if not much info on them.

Could it be because he was supposedly transferred to RAF on 1/4/18 , noted 'unfit' then discharged by the RN 17/4/18.  His RAF Service Record has him with the number 212764.

Perhaps they weren't sure which number to put on the Roll ?

Thanks, How does the u fit in is that air unit or why do they use u for mechanic?

Also this chap full name is Otto Richard Walter Lotrose. His brother Hugo Herman seems to vanish at the start Ww1. I have a hunch he may have gone to Germany but dont know how to research german stuff. Any recommendations of sites to use?

Their dad comes from Helgoland then moved to England.

The handwriting is odd but his rating is "A.M. [Roman I]" not "A.U."

I agree with Horatio - its just the hand-writing style = a.m.T = A.M.1 = Air Mechanic 1st Grade

Pension Card

LOTROSE, Richard Walter F12764  Air/Mech RN

Widow: LOTROSE, Rhoda, The White Horse. Park St N, St Albans, Herts

Also two claim references to Pension Ledger 11 [but this ledger 11 is generally thought to be missing]
