Finding Longueval Map reference

Perth Digger

Recommended Posts

I'd appreciate help in finding the position of 57C.S.30.d.15.70 on the 1:20000 Longueval trench map. According to the CWGC records, this is the position where the remains of Captain William Nickson, 19th King's Liverpool Regiment, were found in 1931.

Thanks

Mike

This is looking across the area where he was found.  Photo taken from the track shown to the east of the mark shown in the post above from WSL, looking towards Bernafay and Trones woods.

Thanks to both of you. It may interest you to know that a returned POW in 1919 reported that Nickson had been shot by a German officer for refusing to hand over his revolver.
