Gardener (Gärtner) Friedrich Flugzeugobermaat Naval Airforce possibly German Seaplane Sqn (Wasserfliegerabteilung) 1917-1918 (1893 at Landsberg - died 17-1-18) near Imbros (Turkey) possibly with Keppeler cause not stated? Keppeler Alfons Flugzeugmaat Naval Airforce possibly German Seaplane Sqn (Wasserfliegerabteilung) 1917-18 (1888 at Stetternich-Jülich died 17-1-18) near Imbros possibly with Gärtner cause not stated? I checked some other sources, but the only claim was by another German member of the German Seaplane Sqn (Wasserfliegerabteilung) Schubert Wilhelm or Georg Vzfeldw to LtzS Naval pilot Airforce German Seaplane Sqn (Wasserfliegerabteilung) 11-15 Who claimed shot down a seaplane near Islands 17-1-18 Was this an own goal or is there any British/Allied claims around that time off the Islands of the Dardenells? Nikolajsen has the following in chapter 12, p.205, re the German seaplane unit based at Nara “On the 17th [January 1918] however a Sablatnig SF.5 crewed by Ensign Kepler and Lt. Görtner disappeared on a flight. Cheers S.B Royal Naval Air Service, Operations report, 17th to 31st January 1918. Gliki Air Station, Imbros. 'C' Squadron. 'On the 17th January a special mine reconnaissance, ordered by R.A.E. was carried out, and during this Flight Commander Donald shot down a two-seater seaplane when nearing Suvla. The machine crashed into the water from 1,000 feet. The pilot had apparently been killed. The wreck of the machine was salved by a monitor, which proceeded to within 700 ft. of the wreck. The machine was of the Friedrichshaven [sic] type. The body of the observer was picked up, and the engine and gun were brought to Mudros.' The pilot was Flt Lt G Donald flying F.1 Camel N6365. Others lost there around these dates?
