Carnkie Posted 9 September , 2019 Posted 9 September , 2019 I have a photograph of my g uncle and his sister outside the railings of Buckingham Palace. He is in uniform. I know he was awarded a Military Cross and the Belgium Croix du Guerre and wonder if he received them at the Palace. The date of the photograph is circa 1919. Would this be the norm?
Derek Black Posted 9 September , 2019 Posted 9 September , 2019 Yes, Plenty of awards were received there. Cheers, Derek.
BullerTurner Posted 22 October , 2019 Posted 22 October , 2019 Unlikely to have got the Croix de Guerre there though. These foreign decorations were either invested in the field by somebody from the UK chain of command, a visiting foreign general or in many cases “over the pay table”.
rflory Posted 23 October , 2019 Posted 23 October , 2019 What is your great uncle's name? His Military Cross card should indicate the date he was decorated with the MC at Buckingham Palace.
