@mickdavis If you are still after Turnberry serial numbers I can give you a few more

My grandfather was posted to 6AAP at Renfrew in May 1918.  Turnberry wasn't one of his usual destinations but his logbook shows

29.5.1918  3.45   DH9 C1240  .30  3000'  "Delivering new machine to Turnberry"

19.6.1918  11.35am DH9 C1271 .35 3000'  "Delivering new machine to Turnberry"

19.6.1918 2.15pm Brl Monoplane 1105 .45 4500' "First solo on a MONOPLANE: OK" [apparently while at Turnberry before return]

19.6.1918 4.15pm Avro 4425  Lt -    .45   3000'   "Returning from Turnberry in borrowed machine"

Thanks - all grist to the mill. I suspect that the Bristol M1C was C5105 (no M1C had a serial with the numerals 1105).

Forgot to ask - do you have serials for your grandfather's time at 6 AAP. Acceptance Test dates and delivery dates are always worth knowing.

I think you're right about the Bristol not being 1105.  Since posting I went through Airhistory and couldn't find it.  The numerals are written quite clearly but must be wrong.  On the other hand, checking airhistory C5105 seems to be an  RE8....!

Serials.  Yes, especially lots of Naval Camels (50+).  I can send a scan.  PM me with your email.

Thanks Mick.  He really managed to mangle that serial.  All I can guess is that he didn't make a proper note at the time and when he wrote it up he just remembered that it involved 1s, 5s and 0s and that one of them was repeated!
