Morning,

 

From the war Diary

 

11-03-1916 LE BIZET BILLETS

12-03-1916  Relieved 9th S.R. in the trenches and occupied defended locality except that we still occupied Trench 95 until 96 A 97 A completed and 100 until ---. Troops at RESERVE FARM move to Frontline.

17-03-1916 IN TRENCHES Very fine weather. Enemy quiet. One man killed. Casualties; KILLED 1 WOUNDED NIL SICK 1 TOTAL 2

Hi many thank I am researching the soldier killed that day was it through shellfire or attack.

The war diary records the days either side of the 17th the enemy sending over minenwerfers, sausages and rifle grenades. One may suspect that McDermid was a casualty as a result of these.
