Guest Posted 6 August , 2019 Posted 6 August , 2019 My maternal grandfather was Stanley Oscar Young - M7426 (1892 - 1964). He served 'aboard' both HMS VIVID 11 & 111 he was a Carpenter/Cabinet Maker. His length of service was from 1914 - 1936. He never went to the Far East but I think his area of travels included North, South Atlantic and the Med. He served on the following ships from 1914 - 1927 HMS Indus, Talbot, Marshal Soult, Resolution, Emperor of India & Ceres. On his second service (he was pensioned off in 1936) I have yet to get his details but I know he served for a while on HMS Barham - lost in WW2. Keith Gould

The National Archives shows 2 documents under service records for him which are available for download. Check it out here: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_fn=Stanley+Oscar+&_ln=Young&_no=M7426&_pl=&_sd=&_ed=&discoveryCustomSearch=true&_ser=ADM+139&_ser=ADM+188&_ser=ADM+363&_ser=ADM+362&_col=200&_hb=tna I expect Horatio2 will be along shortly - he is the expert on this sort of thing.
