Stevend Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 I am researching this local soldier I know he joined up in 1917 and was in France about December 1917 until sometime in 1918 when he was wounded Can anyone help with where his Regiment was at this time. Later he was sent to Egypt in July 1919 what would the reason for this be? Any help is appreciated
George Rayner Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 He also has a RASC number according to FMP of M/404456 which has a service record attached. This mentions a malarial attack and a 20% disability. Address given103 Reid Street, Bridgeton, Glasgow https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F007303041%2F01050&parentid=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F7303041%2F59%2F1050 George
Pat Atkins Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 Weird. Found Robert Doran's medal index card on Ancestry here, no problem. However, searching their service records using that number I found 29089 L/Cpl William Judge, 1st KOSB (Territorial RAMC until at least May 1916; discharged from KOSB with 50% disability 1919 after being wounded March 1918). His medal index card is here for comparison. An identical number issued to men serving (perhaps similtaneously, certainly in very close chronological proximity at least) in the same regiment seems odd. I must be missing something obvious, I think - apologies if so! I'm certainly no expert. Cheers, Pat

Dragoon Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 ASC Medal rolls have Robert Doran as 29089 KOSB transferred to ASC 17/10/18 And the service record shows that Pat found shows that Robert also served in the RAMC joining the 2nd Bn KOSB on the 12/12/17 then the 1st Bn on the 15/12/17 Annoyingly the top half of Roberts record is gone so no record of the KOSB number on there. KOSB Medal rolls also have William Judge as 29089 KOSB. I have found another service record for William under his old RAMC number of 1508. He too joined the 2nd KOSB on 12/12/17 and then the 1st Bn on the 15/12/17 and he stayed in the KOSB. Odd one indeed! Chris
George Rayner Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 A bit of detail, if you don't 'see' FMP From FMP George
ss002d6252 Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 Looks like Doran was actually #29080 https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F007271438%2F00640&parentid=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F7271438%2F46%2F640 Craig
