David Seymour Posted 1 February , 2005 Share Posted 1 February , 2005 Please can anyone help by letting me know which squadrons and aircraft types were stationed at Newlyn during the First World War? Many thanks for any help. Regards, David
chrisharley9 Posted 1 February , 2005 Share Posted 1 February , 2005 Hi David the only unit based at this base was 235 Sqn which was formed at Newlyn from 424 & 425 Flts in Aug 1918 equipped with Shorts 184 & was disbanded on 22 Feb 1919 All The Best Chris
David Seymour Posted 3 February , 2005 Author Share Posted 3 February , 2005 Chris, Many thanks. So, it was RAF at Newlyn not RNAS, and nothing before Aug 1918? Regards, David
Dolphin Posted 3 February , 2005 Share Posted 3 February , 2005 David My old list of Great War aerodromes in the UK says that Newlyn was an RNAS seaplane station prior to 1 April 1918, but says nothing about the unit(s) that used the place.
