Remembered Today:

Researching an American Soldier

Hello,

I am looking for advice on adding to the story of an American Soldier. I have an identity bracelet named to Robert L Taylor, army number 112041,  Company D, 150 Machine Gun Battalion. At my local library, I have initially found via Ancestry, that he returned from France in April 1919 on a ship named the Pretoria. The document also states that his father was James W Taylor, and the place of residence was Cooper, South Dakota. Above that location but scored out is "Faith South Dakota".

A bit of searching then revealed a Robert L Taylor departing the U.S. on 11th January 1918 on ship 527. The regimental detail is Company A, 148 MG battalion, but no Army number. The father is also James W Taylor and the place of residence Faith South Dakota.

Would I be right in assuming that this is the same soldier? Are there any records that I need to know about that might add to his story?

Any advice on this would be most welcome.

Many thanks,

Owain.
