michaeldr Posted 4 August , 2019 Author Share Posted 4 August , 2019 That's good, Alan I look forward to hearing all about your trip to the peninsula See you there
michaeldr Posted 2 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 2 September , 2019 (edited) Since I first posted the advance notice of this event it has expanded somewhat and now promises to be quite special indeed. Ms Aslıhan Kervan of The Gallipoli Historic Site Directorate has kindly agreed to join the list of speakers and she will be describing the work of the Directorate on the peninsula. H.E. The Turkish Ambassador will be the guest of honour, recognising that nearly half of the speakers this year will be Turkish. green_acorn Posted 4 September , 2019 Share Posted 4 September , 2019 G'day Michael, It looks as though you have an excellent speakers list there. Good luck with the day. Chris
michaeldr Posted 5 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 5 September , 2019 Chris, Many thanks for the good wishes for the conference's success The line-up of speakers does indeed look particularly good and the topics have a nice variety, covering some very interesting aspects both of the 1915-16 campaign and of the battlefield as it is to be seen today. I was also hoping to hear some more about the Brune Park School trip to the peninsula in June; sponsored by the GA, the first reports indicate that their visit went particularly well. I am bitterly disappointed that circumstances have recently conspired to force me to cancel my own trip over to the UK to attend this year. Following surgery after a fall, the best that I can now hope for at the end of September is physiotherapy regards Michael

I gather it may have been your hip? Chris
michaeldr Posted 9 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 9 September , 2019 Chris, thanks for that. Not the hip, though that had a painful bruise the size of a dinner plate It is the arm; I hope to see the surgeon again on Wednesday, but physiotherapy begins only on the 19th Until that stage is finally completed, then I've one hand that is not very useful at all Didn't someone say 'worse things happen at sea' Cheers Michael
michaeldr Posted 22 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 22 September , 2019 (edited) Following the implanting in my arm of pieces of what looks like someone's Meccano set, I regret that I will not be lifting any beers in the RAF Club bar this year, however the Gallipoli Association has my very best wishes for a successful conference; a near certain outcome given the impressive final list of participating speakers GA Annual Conf 2019 As at 19 Sep - Speakers and topics.pdf Edited 22 September , 2019 by michaeldr
