Identification sought of German MG.

I recently aquired this photograph of two Tommies examining a captured MG. can anyone help with information and identification?

Looks like an MG 08/15, the 'portable' version of the MG08. Two more can be seen top right.

Yes, it was sold as one.

Described, British Attack on the Somme , examining a captured Machine Gun.

Hi

not just one but all three are MG08/15 with the large double row ammunition cap on the floor. 

The entrenching tools are of the usual length and not the shortened machine gunners variety.

soldier on left is wearing equipment WE08 (pattern 1908 web) on right, the P1914 leather equipment. Both have the gas mask "Small Box Respirator"

MG 08/15 were normal infantry weapons basically, the specialised machine gunners (machine gun companies of infantry units and Maschinengewehr-Scharfschützen units) manned the heavy MG 08's.

RGJDEE the thread could go and on for ever if this was to be all about MG08/15 :D  However let me draw your attention to the MG08/15 thread in this section, and in particular post/item/photo Number 28. You will now see my interest in your photo.
