Chasemuseum Posted 6 July , 2019 Share Posted 6 July , 2019 The rivets in the grip, straight cross guard and birdshead flat sided pommel is the "fourth model" of T30 Arisaka bayonet. This is an "intermediate" production bayonet, production believed to have begun about 1939 and continued to about the middle of the Pacific War period of WW2. The maker mark is "Matsushita (National Denki) " a subcontractor to Kokura Arsenal (Koishikawa Arsenal at Tokyo was the national armaments factory until the 1923 earthquake and then relocated to the Kokura Arsenal which continued to use the same arsenal mark of 4 canon balls in a pile viewed from above). The arrow and M is believed to be the pre-war trademark of the factory "Matsushita Denki Sangyo KK" (Matsushita Electrical Works in Osaka). Refer "Japanese Bayonets", Larry Johnson For a WW1 bayonet, you need a first model (A). These were still manufactured through to the late 30s.
