Stew Posted 27 June , 2019 Share Posted 27 June , 2019 Just a quick query to check something, researching the above solider Pte Alfred Tomlin, 23684 of the 9th Devonshire's we know for a fact that he died on 7th OCtober 1916 and is buried in Ballieul Cemetrery. However, as per the attached picture of his Soldiers Effects record it appears that state place of death was Number 1 (something) Casualty Clearing Station, however according to the LLT, Number 2 CCS was in the area of Ballieul at that time and not Number 1 CCS? Also would anyone happen to know the location of the 9th Devonshire's at around that time, were they in the front line? Any help to clear this up is much appreciated. Keith Brannen Posted 27 June , 2019 Share Posted 27 June , 2019 (edited) Appears to me to be No.1 Can(adian) Clearing Station, which according to this was in Bailleul at the time (from http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhh-dhp/his/le-lr/mu-um-eng.asp): Edited 27 June , 2019 by Keith Brannen
