kidd1986 Posted 31 January , 2005 Share Posted 31 January , 2005 I have been doing some research into my great great uncle who was killed on 4/4/1918, and i have found he served with 7/KOYLI (20th Light Division), then he was attached to the 7/Rifle brigade (14th light division). By looking at the actions of the 14th Light division i have seen they were involved in the Battle of the Avre in April, 1918. As this is the time my great uncle was killed it seems likely that he was killed in this battle. Now i am interested in what happened in this battle (in particular with the 7/Rifle Brigade). Any infomation would be greatly appreciated, Ben.
Stephen Nulty Posted 1 February , 2005 Share Posted 1 February , 2005 Ben If you follow the link at the top of the page to The Long, Long Trail, and choose "Battles", you will find that the Battle of the Avre was the fifth phase of the First Battle of The Somme in 1918.
