Remembered Today:

Tracing an East Lancs man by his number

I am trying to establish when 6333 Private James Carroll from Salford reached front-line with  8th (Service) Battalion East Lancashire Regiment. It was certainly after Jan. 1916 as he was awarded just BWM/VM. The only reference I can find in the war diary  in respect of reinforcements is:

"2 May draft of 14 OR from 37 Div Inf Base Depot."

Is any East Lancs expert able to shed light in respect of his regimental number of 6333?

For the record, James was killed in the assault on Pozières on 15 July 1916 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

NOTE: I have just found his MIC that shows he landed on 2/9/15 so my question is answered. Sorry for the waste of time!!
