War Diary - Oct '15 to May '16

I'm considering ordering a copy of war diary (for the 2nd Middlesex) for the period from October 1915 to the end of May 1916.

Would anyone have any idea how many pages of diary that would be?

Hi Justin,

Hard to tell. Depends on how much action there was; how much time there was to

write it all down; how fast someone could write???

Could easily be 5- 10 pages a month for instance. Sometimes 5 days on one page, sometimes 1 or 2....

You could be talking about 50 or a lot more pages.

Do you know off hand how large the pages were? Can the open diary be copied as an A3 sheet?

Hi Justin,

A pal of mine has just been to the N.A. and copied three months 2nd Bn Essex Regiment.

This was 21 pages and he told me they only do A3 format.

Have you seen the thread about the costs of having copies made at the N.A.?

Yes, I did see the thread on copying costs.

Three months for £8.40 (21 sheets at 40p each). That sounds pretty good to me. Cheaper than an airfare, hotel, etc.

I think I'll splash out and treat myself.
