DCLI Posted 30 January , 2005 Share Posted 30 January , 2005 Please see attached picture. The lower LSGC has, I believe the older ribbon for this medal. The upper one the later version. I would like to know, is the maroon gold ribbon (the lower one) incorrect as it stands on the lower group? regards Anthony
eviltaxman Posted 30 January , 2005 Share Posted 30 January , 2005 I've never come across an Army LSGC with gold edges. It was solid crimson until 1917, then crimson with white edging. The different dominions had different central coloured stripes, but the nearest even then would be an orange central stripe on the South African version. My feeling is it is probably general dis-colouration. Les.
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 30 January , 2005 Share Posted 30 January , 2005 The White Edges of the LSGC {& the White Stripes of Old MM,MSM;MC:,Etc;}Real Silk Ribbon does discolour to this Goldy~Orange hue,due to age, especially if it has been stored in damp Conditions or Sunlight,in the Past,Once "gone" it cannot be returned to the bright white it once was!
