Hello

I seem to recall that India was one of the few places that the Coldstream Gds have not been sent to. At the NA yesterday, I found 3 mic's for LSGC awarded in 1938 and posted out to the 3rd Btn in India.

Can any one confirm if they did or didnt go ..

Hello

Thought as people knew about my China question I'd give this an airing as never got a reply before...

During his career Lieut. General Sir Oilver Leese was Adjutant of 3 Coldstreams 1920-22 and Commanded 1 Coldstreams 1936-38. From 1938-40 he was Chief Instructor (GSO1) at The Staff College Quetta.

Is it possible that he selected Coldstreamers as PSIs for the College?

Just a thought.

I can see no trace of the 3rd Battalion serving in India (nor of the other two battalions)

The 3rd moved to Palestine during October 1936 and stayed three months. November 1937 they again returned to the region as part of the canal brigade. They were due to be replaced by the 2nd Battalion in 1939, which was all changed by the start of WWII. The 3rd Battlion stayed until 1940 when they moved to the western desert.

Sorry couldn't give you any explanation for the mics

regards

John

Hello

Thanks for the thoughts

Very odd- could have been odd men but the Guards seem to have so few LSGC its not likely - unless they where instructors...?
