Ron Clifton Posted 24 May , 2019 Share Posted 24 May , 2019 Can anyone point me in the direction of information, online or printed but in English, on German railway guns in World War I? I have a number of books on this and similar topics, but not specifically about this topic: Rail Gun, by Ian Hogg and John Batchelor 42cm Big Bertha and German Siege Artillery of World War I (Osprey New Vanguard 205) Railway Guns of World War II (Osprey New Vanguard 231) German Heavy 24cm Cannon, by Wolfgang Fleischer (Schiffer Military History) The Guns 1914-18, by Ian Hogg (Pan/Ballantine) German Army Handbook 1918, by the British General Staff I am also aware that German Artillery of World War I, by Herbert Jager (Crowood Press) covers the topic, but only secondhand copies are available on Amazon and eBay and they are over £80 each, which is a bit high to buy on the off-chance. Thanks in anticipation of getting some new leads, Ron
Ron Clifton Posted 24 May , 2019 Author Share Posted 24 May , 2019 Stop press! I've just found this one, available as an online download: Railway Guns of World War I (Osprey New Vanguard 249) Further suggestions will still be welcomed, but please don't go to too much trouble about it. Michael Haselgrove Posted 25 May , 2019 Share Posted 25 May , 2019 Ron, I don't know if it will interest you but "The Paris Gun" by H.W. Miller is, I think, available at no great cost and is a fascinating book. Regards, Michael.
Ron Clifton Posted 27 May , 2019 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2019 (edited) Hello Michael Thanks for your interest. In fact I do have a copy of that book (Naval & Military Press paperback reprint) but had forgotten that I had it when I posted!
