RaySearching Posted 22 May , 2019 Share Posted 22 May , 2019 Would any of our Tanker's know the circumstances surrounding the following soldiers death Private GEORGE BLAKEBOROUGH 205174 12th Bn Tank Corps (previously Pte 3088 Yorkshire Hussars) George was killed in action during the Advance to Victory ? on September 2nd 1918 aged 20 He was the son of William Blakeborough a police sergeant and Mary Ann Blakeborough of 20 Gresham Road. Middlesbrough The family can be found residing at 56 Linthorpe Road on the 1911 census George has a commemorative inscription on his parent’s headstone which can be found in Linthorpe Cemetery The register of soldiers effects list his father William as the legatee of his effects The claimant of his pension is listed as Mr William Blakeborough (father) age 57 of 20 Gresham Road Middlesbrough Born Middlesbrough enlisted York (N.E.D.G 16th Sept 1918 / photo Northern Echo) MORY ABBEY MILITARY CEMETERY, MORY The man himself Commemorative headstone inscription Regards Ray Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
