Sgt Stripes Posted 20 May , 2019 Share Posted 20 May , 2019 Does anybody have information regarding this WWI French plaque, I have been told they were made for soldiers killed in action in the Dardanelles and the Salonika campaign. Please see attached images.
Martin Bennitt Posted 20 May , 2019 Share Posted 20 May , 2019 The monument pictured on the plaque was erected in Marseille to honour those who died, as you say, in Gallipoli and Salonica. There would presumably have been a committee to oversee the building of the monument and plaques could have been presented to its members.
