Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 14 May , 2019 Share Posted 14 May , 2019 (edited) Thanks for those pics Martin. I've never seen those plaque before. (And well done on the circumflex above the 'w'.) Edited 14 May , 2019 by Dai Bach y Sowldiwr

(And well done on the circumflex above the 'w'.) I have been getting use to finding the accented characters, the big problem is usually working out whether it is a "C" or a "G" and which way the accent is going! Last month I transcribed a memorial to General Sikorski with some very strange Polish characters. I have a cheat sheet printed out for the more common ones, there is a website with Alt Codes to get various characters so I printed out the table. As often happens, his rank varies depending on where you look. Edited 14 May , 2019 by mbriscoe

Took me a bit to find the one on the tower because I had misunderstood the information I got at the Yacht Club (my fault). Then went to look for the VC paving stone. Several people had no idea where it was and information from others was confusing. I knew it was around the council offices so asked at reception. They did not know either and had to make some phone calls. It was just across the road from there but had been mounted at an angle facing the side of the building on a raised walled so you do not see it properly from outside.
