Whilst working my way through the pension documents updating my files

I came across this this little interesting snippet of information

 

Andrew Jackson's illegitimate child

a joint claimant of his pension

Miss Alice E Hale of Bradwell of Bradwell Great Yarmouth the guardian of the soldiers Illegitimate child

 

I wonder if he has descendants to this day

Sergeant ANDREW JACKSON

220364 5th Bn Queens Own Cameron Highlanders   (previously 3717 Lovat Scouts)

Andrew promoted in October 1916 to Sergeant (physical and bayonet instructor) was wounded in action during the final advance in Flanders and died of wounds on the 30th September 1918 in No 36 casualty clearing station

He was the son of Andrew and Jeannie Jackson

Andrew can be found on the 1901 census a schoolboy aged 10 residing with his parents and siblings at 21 Underwood Road Paisley Renfrewshire, on the 1911 census as a professional footballer aged 20 a boarder at 57 Abingdon Road Middlesbrough

Andrew a captain of Middlesbrough football club, he played for Middlesbrough 137 times

He is commemorated on the roll of honour which can be found in the Erimus Quoit & Rifle Club in Middlesbrough

The register of soldiers effects list his mother Jeannie as the executrix of his effects

The claimant of his pension is listed as Mrs Jeanie Jackson (mother) 35 Gordon Street Paisley and Miss Alice E Hale of Bradwell Great Yarmouth the guardian of the soldiers Illegitimate child

Born in Cambuslang Lanarkshire enlisted Glasgow (A resident of Paisley Renfrewshire)
